Today, I Go to the Dentist

Some dread going to the dentist, but not me. I finally have dental insurance again, which means I can afford to actually go to the dentist for preventative care. My new plan is a good one, and inexpensive. After years of not being able to pay the cost of going to a dentist, I am glad to be able to go today. The last time I saw a dentist was sometime during 2009. At the time, I had the type of job that offered not only health insurance, but also coverage for dental. As you may recall, 2009 was right … Continue reading

What About Catholic Businesses that Self- Insure?

Recently, the Obama administration allowed religious affiliated businesses to be exempt from having to cover the cost of birth control in their employer sponsored health insurance plans. It has since become clear that some religious affiliated businesses are self-insured. This could be a problem. Usually, when a business, company, or corporation decides to offer an employer sponsored health insurance plan, it seeks out an insurance company to help make that happen. The employer typically pays a certain amount of money to the insurer for this plan, (and that money often comes from each covered employee’s paycheck). When an employee sees … Continue reading

Employer Sponsored Health Insurance is a Problem

Right now, the majority of Americans that have health insurance coverage are able to afford it because their employer offers it to them as a job benefit. While this situation has some advantages, it also comes with many problems. For decades, the easiest way for Americans to find affordable health insurance coverage was to look for a company or business that offered an employer sponsored health insurance plan to its workers.
